After earthworks, infrastructure projects, or the construction of waterways, the soil often needs to be reseeded. Hydroseeding is an efficient method for applying grass and herbs to large surfaces, embankments, and ditch banks.

What is hydroseeding?

In hydroseeding, a mixture of water, grass seed, and mulch fibers is sprayed evenly onto the soil. Depending on the project, fertilizers, herb seeds, and a tackifier can also be added.

The mulch fibers help retain moisture and protect the soil surface against the direct impact of rain. This supports germination and helps limit the risk of seed washout.

Suitable for embankments, ditch banks, and large terrains

Hydroseeding is suitable for, among other things:

Does hydroseeding help against erosion?

Hydroseeding can contribute to faster vegetation development and helps temporarily protect the soil surface. Once the vegetation has developed well, the roots can contribute to the stability of the soil.

For steep embankments, strong water currents, or shorelines with an increased erosion risk, additional erosion protection may be necessary. The right approach therefore begins with an assessment of the local conditions.
